Bunneh3000’s Gamer Journal – Feb. 16
There’s honestly not enough Bunneh bucks in the world right now my friends.
Let’s face it. The first quarter of every year is pretty devoid of big time games, but for some reason, this year seems to have thrown quite a bit of ‘potential purchase prospects’ my way! Check this list of games I’ve bought/pre-ordered recently:
Tom Clancy’s The Division – Which has an open beta this weekend by the way
Arslan Warriors of Legend – A Koei Tecmo title with ‘Warriors’ in the title… yeah. You know what’s up!
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – (yes I gave in so I could play it with friends and my sister)
Humble Bundle Firaxis Bundle (Including XCOM: Enemy Unknown &Within, all past XCOM games, Civilization III, IV, and V, Sid Meiers Starships, and more)
Red Faction: Guerrilla (STEAM sale) – one of my favorite games of all time thanks to the environmental destructibility.
Blood Bowl: Chaotic Edition (STEAM sale) – always curious about this franchise.
Pillars Of Eternity – nominated and awarded RPG of the year left and right by critics last year. Can’t wait to jump into this one.
Yes my friends. This is me trying to decide what to play!
Now I know that you are all looking all GOOGLY-EYED at this list just like I am. I overcome also with recent DLC and content that is being released on other games that I have/play. Here’s a quick list:
Neverwinter – New Strongholds mode and Underdark sections! (my dark elves know what’s up)
Dying Light: The Following – New DLC with vehicles that is HUGE. Love this game.
Mechwarrior Online – Rifleman mech release on the 16th!!!!
Rock Band 4 – Previous DLC from Rock Band Network back in the previous gen days are almost all cleared!
Fallout 4 DLC – Let’s face it. This game needs DLC or mods or something…
My friends. All of this adds up to a Bunneh that has entirely TOO much to play and little to no time to experience it all in! There’s a lot of goodness in the above list.
XCOM 2 (which will get a full impressions article soon) is just as unforgiving, frustrating, and full of tactical fun that the Enemy Unknown version introduced to the franchise! Without spoiling too much, the save game feature is your friend… AFTER EVERY TURN!!! This game completely backhands my every attempt at saving my squads for future missions and now that you can do a LOT of customization to every soldier (even train them to become the class that you want), I get even MORE attached to them. You can even download other people’s soldier creations if you get tired of creating your own! Toss in the fact that I’m CERTAIN mods will increase the amount of customizations and you have a near marriage to every solider that will inevitably die or get captured in the Veteran mode that is my current situation! I completely crave the challenge but it is quickly becoming clear that my strategic mind is a few turns short of victory! I’ve already given up on my first campaign now that a few missions have completely destroyed my confidence at EVER winning a future mission. The need for an additional soldier is too high and too far away (not the mention better armor and weapons). Needless to say strategy buffs, this game’s for you!
As this week strolls along, I’m certain I’ll dip into some of those titles, but I’ve a feeling that MechWarrior Online and Arslan will dominate my gametime!
All of this and I’ll be missing out on the gorgeous goodness that is Street Fighter V! What can I say? I’m a big fan of Ken and the Flaming Dragon Punch! The visuals of SFV are very watchable and I’m certain the game will be a big hit on Twitch. ESports stars will be streaming their adventures on the digital landscape that is online ranked play and amateurs will be hungry to seek them out and take them down!
Honestly, I can’t wait to play it. I love fighting games despite being horrible at them. I mean let’s be serious. I want to play Mortal Kombat X but I’m too scared to buy it until I’m sure all the good people are done playing it! Still, I’m a bit disheartened to hear that there is little to no story mode for SFV. This franchise has some fantastic characters and great backstory that I feel is ripe for a well done story mode (like NetherRealm Studios have done with SFV). A part of me even envies how MKX added horror legends as DLC. It makes me feel a bit sorry for Capcom as their DLC will probably just have old characters from other SF games and not something fresh like maybe a Marvel character or some other iconic character like Jean Claude Van Damm or Jet Li or Rhonda Rousey or something!
Game on, digital gladiators. Game on!
