Nightingale’s Gamer Journal Dec. 9

Anybody who knows me knows I stay pretty busy with my many projects and jobs, so I’m left with very little time to game if any. But upon reading all of the other Gamer Journals my GP comrades have been writing has motivated me to play games, even when my time is limited. So for about the past week and some days, I’ve jotted down what I have been playing, and here it is, my first venture into the Gamer Journal…

When I’m pressed for time or am constantly up and down, it’s really hard for me to plant myself in front of the TV on a console game, so I always turn to my trusty PS Vita and my 3DS XL. I’ve been playing and dabbling in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. The game is fun, but can easily become a bore if played for long periods of time, which makes it perfect for my situation. Got about 10 to 20 minutes to kill? Why not decorate some Villager’s house? It’s fun, and quirky, and let’s the creative juices flow.

Another on-the-go title I recently tried out for the very first time was The Unfinished Swan. I had gotten it for free with my awesome PlayStation Plus account, and had never given it a second look. Only having played for about 30 minutes or so, but the game is soothing to me as you venture around coloring the world around you in ink as you discover the vast world around you while you search for that unfinished swan. I definitely look forward to playing more of this when given the chance.

And for days when I have just been utterly fed up with the world I’m living in, The Sims 3 Pets is always a nice way to unwind for me. I play on the PS3, so I lack all of the awesome expansions and what not, but it’s still fun to me, even to this day. It takes very little thought but at the same time a lot of planning, at least for me anyways. I play the game methodically as if it’s a legendary game of chess. It gives me something to focus in on when my brain is feeling scrambled.

I also recently restarted a game on Ni No Kuni (which I now totally need to finish with the recent announcement of Ni No Kuni 2). I had had a game started on there a while back, but due to PS3 complications, my data on my hard drive was wiped clean. I’ve been meaning to get further in the game (as I am still at the beginning in Ding Dong Dell), but everytime I try, The Sims 3 just keeps beckoning me – C’est la vie.

In between everything else (and the very last game for this entry) I’ve been playing Yoshi’s Woolly World. It’s just too adorable, and I rather enjoy it to my surprise, as it was a game I had a feeling just wouldn’t stick with me. I’d have to say my time with gaming is mostly spent with The Sims 3 and Yoshi’s Woolly World. I am hellbent on finishing Yoshi’s, and will do in the near future which may or may not lead to an impressions piece of sorts for the game.

So what about you, the reader out there… do you have free time to game, and if you do, what have you been gaming on? Till next time, fellow gamers…
