PS4 in for a Possible Price Drop, According to Retailer’s Site
Hey there GP Fans!!! Since the PS4 originally came to us in November of 2013, the $399 price tag was officially set and hasn’t changed since then. Though recently, Target posted an image on their retail site stating that a $50 price cut is in the near future for the PS4, bringing the next gen console down to $349. As we all witnessed Sony announce a PS4 price cut last week at TGS, nothing was stated at all about the U.S. getting a price drop as well, though Business Executive and Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, stated shortly after Sony announced the price cut for the PS4 in Japan that he indeed expects Sony to announce a price cut for the PS4 sometime soon for the holidays. While a price cut by the holidays would be amazing for those looking to finally join the next gen circuit with Sony, I wouldn’t get too excited just yet as we’ve been in this same position before last year with fans anticipating a price drop around the holidays only to get, well, nothing. So until Sony comes out to address the issue themselves and lets us know that they’ll be dropping the price of the PS4 in North America, I personally wouldn’t get too hype just yet. We’re not saying it won’t happen, we’re just waiting for it to actually happen and to be done with the rumors already. Doesn’t Sony have another announcement event set up at the Paris Game Show next month? Well… if they were going to announce anything special for the holidays, that would be the perfect time to do so. Let’s keep our fingers crossed… but not get our hopes up though.
