Nightingale’s GP Picks 9/11/15

Posted September 11, 2015 by Felisha "Nightingale" Silva in Features

Happy Friday my fellow gamers! There were some pretty decent games released this past week, and I’m here to tell you about the ones you should be playing this weekend! In GP Picks, I give you three new titles, and one retro title that you should be checking out.

First up on GP Picks this week is a new title for the Nintendo 3DS… Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX. Play as Miku and some of your other favorites from the anime, Vocaloid. The game features 48 full songs that you can play and you can also do them in multiple styles! What could make this game even better you ask? All the character are chibi-style! So if you need some music and cuteness in your life this weekend, look no further than this 3DS title.

Do you love PlayStation’s exclusive title LittleBigPlanet? If your answer is ‘yes’, then your next game you should be playing is Tearaway Unfolded for PS4. The first Tearaway was released on the PS Vita, and went so well that they thought a new one was in order. Enjoy a world made of papercrafts, where you control the wind with the Dualshock 4’s touchpad and blow obstacles out of the way, and unfold crucial item around you. This game is creative, imaginative, and fresh. So what are you waiting for? Dive into the papery world of Tearaway Unfolded, and start your adventure!

Have you ever sat back while playing Mario and thought, “Man, I sure would love to be able to create my own Mario levels…” Well wish no more! Nintendo has heard our prayers and now they have finally answered, and their answer is Super Mario Maker for the Nintendo Wii U. Create 2D courses how you want to create them, and do them in the styles of Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U. Make the levels as easy or as hard as you want, and share them with others to play! And say you don’t want to play as Mario… you can play as other Nintendo characters such as Link and Isabelle!!!

And as for my retro title for this week, in honor of the release of Super Mario Maker, I chose Super Mario Bros. Originally released on the NES back in 1985, it was the first Super Mario game to ever release, 30 years ago. If you’ve never played Super Mario Bros., then you haven’t lived. It’s the game that started it all, and remains an icon to this day as Mario is the face of Nintendo.

So what will you be playing this weekend? Will it be one of the titles I named, or is it another title that released this past week? Sound off in the comments below, and keep it locked onto GP for all your gaming news needs!

Did you enjoy this article? If so, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. It would be great if you subscribed to our RSS feed or signed up for email updates to get more goodness. There’s lots more where this came from!
