Don’t Starve’s Shipwrecked Expansion Announced

Don’t Starve is a top-down survival rogue-like game with cartoony characters that has done pretty well for itself. Now, both developer Klei and expansion co-developer Capy (which has made such games as Super Time Force and Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery) are set to release the next expansion for the game called Shipwrecked.

As you can imagine, info on the expansion is quite slim. In the original game, the game playspace boundary was always restricted by water. Of course, now, with this expansion, that will not be the case as players will be able to take to the seas and find other landmasses.

It will be interesting to see what other features will be added to support this new aspect to the game. Will there be swimming or fishing or something of that sort to make the water more than just someplace to attach different landmasses? As the trailer suggests, what other dangers will be lurking in the water aside from tiger striped sharks? Also, what was the deal with adding Capy Games as a co-developer? Hopefully it is just additional manpower to assist in making the expansion meatier.

As it stands the plan is to release the expansion first on PC this fall before it comes to consoles.
