Major Tekken 7 Announcement from Bandai Namco on July 7th
In celebration of Tekken’s 20th Year Anniversary, Bandai Namco recently announced that there will be a release date confirmed for Tekken 7 on the PS4 and Xbox One on Tuesday, July 7th. Katsuhiro Harada also spoke of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Tekken 7 having 4 new characters added to the roster on top of the 6 new characters that have already been revealed, so hopefully this major announcement will be able to shed some light on that information as well.
The Tekken 7 release date has been something that the Tekken Community has been waiting for ever since Tekken 7 was first released in Japan arcades last year of Feb 18th. Since then, we’ve gotten tons of information concerning all the new characters that have been added to the Tekken roster (Josie Rizal, Gigas, Shaheen, Katarin, Lucky Chloe and Claudio) and witnessed the addition of 2 new fighting mechanics added within the Tekken series known as Rage Arts and Power Crush. The addition of Kazumi Mishima has also been a huge addition to the game as Kazumi was revealed in a recent trailer as the final boss of the game and just like Jin and Kazuya, has the ability to transform into demon form and raise havoc on her opponents with devastating attacks.
With EVO 2015 right around the corner, plenty of people have been speculating that Tekken 7 would actually be revealed at EVO this year and with this announcement coming 2 weeks before the event, I wouldn’t be surprised if they also announced the game to be playable at EVO this year. It would definitely make a lot of sense to do so, seeing as how there will be tons of experienced top level Tekken players eager to finally get their hands on the game and get a feel for what Tekken 7 truly is before it hits the console. Also, for those on the fence about attending EVO, the announcement alone of Tekken 7 being playable at EVO can draw more competitors and fans to the event, thus creating a bigger and better EVO experience for everyone to partake in. Though it hasn’t been confirmed that it will indeed be released at EVO, I really don’t see a reason why Bandai Namco wouldn’t want to go that direction.
