It’s Friday, gamers and gamerettes! The weekend is upon us, and it’s time for the Weekly News Rundown, brought to you by yours truly – Nightingale Silva. So shall we get started?

It looks like Nintendo has cut a deal with Universal Parks and Resorts, and plans on bringing attractions in the form of your favorite Nintendo franchises and games. Not many details are known as of right now, though all we know it that it will feature the more well-known of the Nintendo characters. A Legend of Zelda ride, anyone? I don’t know about the rest of you out there, but this would give me a whole new reason to go to Universal Studios…

I believe I’ll start saving my money now…

During a recent conference with investors, Nintendo CEO, Satoru Iwata, talked about the new membership program that will be taking the place of Club Nintendo, and will span across the likes of the 3DS, PC, Wii U, mobile devices, and the NX (the next gaming system after the Wii U) all with the use of one login.

Iwata stated:

“While we will announce the details of this integrated membership service at a later date, I can share with you at a high level the idea is that the consumer can access multiple devices using one common ID.

“So far, the members input their Club Nintendo ID to use the services. With this new service, our members will be able to visit Nintendo’s website and log in with one ID, and they will receive various services including the ones based on their past purchases and gameplay records as well as services that will be an improved version of the current loyalty program.

“For us to be able to bridge the gap between smart devices and dedicated game systems, we will offer advantages to consumers who use one ID across multiple devices. With this new membership, we are planning to deploy services that will make playing Nintendo games with their game pals more fun regardless of which platform they are accessing.”

I can’t wait for the launch of the new service to see if it’s on par with Club Nintendo. We should see this new subscription service by the end of this year.
