TGIF – It’s Friday, and the weekend is upon us. But before that happens, let’s crack into the Weekly News Rundown! The Weekly News Rundown is where I, Nightingale, run down some of the bigger stories from the past week in the world of gaming. So without further adu, let’s get into it!

So…many Silent Hill fans were not too happy this week. After a lot of speculation and questioning, Konami finally came out in a roundabout way and announced the canceling of Silent Hills (The game that was to be created and directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, and star Norman Reedus as its lead role in the game).

The hype for the game started with the release of P.T. on the PS4 exclusively, with ‘P.T.’ Standing for playable teaser. It was a taste of what was to come for Silent Hills. As of now, P.T. is no longer available for download on the PlayStation Store on the PS4.

I don’t know what Konami is thinking…but it’s in no way good.

It looks like the main details for Final Fantasy XV won’t be shared at this year’s E3, but instead at Gamescom in August. The game’s director – Hajime Tabata – stated the following on the matter:

“I think most people are expecting a big reveal around E3. E3 doesn’t give us sufficient time to fully prepare [to release pertinent information about the game]. So I have been discussing with our marketing teams, and we’ve actually been considering Gamescom in August, instead of E3, as the target for the next major reveal. So we’ll be taking a break from E3 this year.”

So for quite some time now we have been hearing rumors about a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, and it went by the codename of “Project Ukulele”. Now we know why that was chosen as the project codename, as the game will be entitled Yooka-Laylee! The project’s Kickstarter took off today, and within a matter of only 30 minutes, they reached their funding goal of $270,000.

Since it was funded early enough, the game should release on Mac, Windows, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U.

What do you think of this new game from Playtonic? Is this the spiritual successor you’d hoped we’d get?
