Sony Announces 22 millions Units in PS4 Lifetime Sales

Posted May 4, 2015 by Kat in News

Good news for continuing sales of the PlayStation 4 as Sony announced official sales numbers for their next-gen console as of the end of March.  Not only have they now sold over 22 million units in lifetime sales for the system, but they’ve also been making significant financial gains in the last year.

As of the end of March 2015, the PS4 has sold 22.3 million units, with those numbers sitting at 20.2 million at the start of March.  As for the financial year that ended on March 31, 2015, they’ve sold 14.8 million units in total.

Additionally, the company made a 33 cent year-on-year gain bringing in $11.5 billion dollars this year.  While their operating income rose to $401 million, which helps stack up against their lost of $78 million.

As for the future of the console, Sony expects to sell another 16 million in the next year, which would bring its lifetime sales up to around 40 million.  Combined sales for the PSP and Vita, however, were down from 4.1 million to 3.3 million.

The company meanwhile made $576 in other business ventures which is up 159% year-on-year.  In a similar vein, they’ve also made their biggest gains in seven years – no doubt aided by the steadily impressive sales numbers for the PlayStation 4.
