Sony Absent from Gamescom Press Conference This Year

Posted May 6, 2015 by Kenesu in News

Sad news for Sony fans today. Well, not really sad but moreso of a minor let-down for those hoping to hear from Sony this year at Gamescom. After 6 strong years of appearing at Gamescom and conducting amazing and informative press conferences for the people, Sony has decided to remove themselves from this year’s Gamescom due to Gamescom taking place a week before originally scheduled and E3 actually taking place a week after expected. With the sudden change in event dates, Sony felt it was best to wait until the later year to unveil their new plans and announcements, thus leading up to Sony putting emphasis on them, “hosting an international media briefing at Paris Game Week the 27th of October.

We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time.

Make no mistake people… Sony WILL be at E3 this year. Though it seems Paris Game Week will be Sony’s main stage follow-up after E3 for announcements from the look of things. This should in no reason alter or stop anyone from attending or tuning into Gamescom this year. This just now gives you more of a reason to check for Paris Game Week in October to see what Sony is actually up to over there. Whatever it is, it’s going be something major. The 4th quarter is usually the most important quarter of the year anyway as the holidays are literally right around the corner at that time and whatever is hot at that moment, whether good or bad, is going to be the main target for sales. Clearly Sony realizes this and is more than likely plotting and planning to reel us in with something amazing for that exact reason. What it is exactly? We’re just going to have to wait until E3 and Paris Game Week rolls around to find out. Though their presence will definitely be missed at Gamescom, I’m sure they will do more than make up for it come Paris Game Week.

So what do you guys think Sony has up their sleeves for Paris Game Week? Do you feel it was a good move for them to skip the Gamescom Press Conference after being apart of Gamescom for 6 years? Leave your comments below and be sure to keep it locked to GP as we keep you up to date on what’s circulating within your gaming universe. See ya!
