Nintendo Say “NO” to the Reveal of the NX This E3

I guess Nintendo felt they were being too good to us with all the information and goodies they’ve given us over the past couple weeks and needed to pull back a little bit. It’s either that or they really don’t have any NX information for us at the moment. Either way, Company Chief Satoru Iwata has confirmed the following concerning their E3 appearance:

They will NOT be revealing the NX at E3…

No discussions of Smart Devices or Smart Device game titles will be announced or revealed at E3…

With those two things being probably the most intriguing pieces of Nintendo news that fans and gamers alike were looking forwards to this E3, one has to wonder what exactly will Nintendo present to the gaming community at E3.
Iwata issued a statement saying, “We do not plan on talking specifics about the NX until 2016“, as the NX has only been referred to as a “new concept” with no further information given about it thus far. Though he has gone on record to say this will be it’s own console and in no way do they think of it as a replacement for the 3DS and/or the Wii U. He continued on giving his reason as to why he wouldn’t be speaking about such things as smart devices and such, stating, “Incidentally, we’re getting various questions for this year’s E3, like ‘Won’t there be a NX announcement?’, ‘Will there be a presentation on smart devices?’, or ‘Will there be more on the quality of life platform?’ However, since we understand that E3 is an event for dedicated video game machines, we do not intend to discuss the smart devices as well as quality of life.

Now with this in mind, we can only assume that the Wii U and the 3DS will be the man focus of Nintendo’s E3 showing this year. Though if they don’t plan on revealing anything about the NX this E3, why even bring it up? Well it seems Iwata didn’t want fans to feel as though they were putting all their time and attention into smart-phone game development and abandoning home consoles all together. So letting the fans know they do indeed have a “new concept” of a home console in the works would hopefully kill any fears of that whatsoever. Well, whatever it is that Nintendo has up their sleeves for E3 this year, it better be good. Pretty sure A LOT of Nintendo and gaming fans in general were hoping for Nintendo to spill something about NX and to know now that they have no intentions on doing so only makes me more anxious to see what Nintendo is actually going to bring to E3. Whatever it is, I’m sure we’ll all be watching in high anticipation.

So how do you feel about Nintendo choosing to keep their lips shut on everything NX and Smart-phone related. Leave your comments below and be sure to keep it locked to GP as we keep you up to date on what’s circulating within your gaming universe. See ya!
