Xbox Live Gold Offering Bioshock Infinite For Free This Month

Two years ago this month, Irrational Games dropped an FPS bomb on the gaming community that will forever be known as Bioshock Infinite. As of the second half of March, Xbox Live is offering said bomb for free to all Xbox Live Gold members through the end of the month. As a part of their free game offering to rival the Playstation Plus membership, this game replaces Tomb Raider which was offered from the beginning of the month. Of course, Playstation offered this game over a year ago via Playstation Plus, so there’s that.

Winner of a number of awards and receiver of all kinds of critical praise, Bioshock Infinite was an astounding underacheiver in the eyes of developer Irrational Games and essentially led to the studio’s demise despite the amazing quality of the game. Given a 4.5 out of 5 back during the buzz of its release by Gaming Precision, this game definitely held its own against the previous Bioshock games of which the original is often named in the top video games of all time. While this game did see its moment of controversy over certain aspects of the game including its depiction of racism and forcing the protagonist to be baptized at one point, Bioshock is without a doubt enhanced by its deep and robust story.

Maybe this additional exposure will help convince 2K Games to bring Levine back to help keep the greatness in this franchise. Thankfully, there are plans to continue to make Bioshock games but news has been very light and almost non-existent. Here’s to hoping something is coming soon.
