World Of Tanks Cross Platform Play Coming To Xbox One
World of Tanks is a wildly successful free-to-play multiplayer game that sees over 100 million users worldwide in over 140 different countries. Xbox 360 users are starting to catch the World Of Tanks fever as well with over 5 million users as well.
With all of this success, the game is supposed to come to the Xbox One later this year as well. Though the release date is yet to be set, recent news shows that combatants on the Xbox One will be allowed to battle their Xbox 360 brethren on the same battlefield. Interestingly enough this isn’t a common feature for regular cross platform games (like Destiny or Titanfall) but World of Tanks is leading the charge.
“When World of Tanks first came to the Xbox 360, the concept of free-to-play gaming on a console was nearly unheard of,” Wargaming said on its blog. “But after a year of milestones, updates, community growth, and relentless armored combat, World of Tanks has blasted its way into the spotlight and the living rooms of aspiring Xbox tank commanders worldwide.”
Success of games like this and Warframe on the Xbox will hopefully bring more high quality free to play games to BOTH systems. Let me throw my hat into the ring and suggest Mechwarrior Online, PLEASE!
