The “Spiritual Successor” of Banjo Kazooie is Now in Development

Posted February 11, 2015 by Kenesu in News

Looks like we’ll be getting a new Banjo Kazooie game after all guys. Though this one has been hinted to be steered more towards the “Spiritual Successor” side of things. Hey, as long as the Banjo Kazooie tag team remain intact, I’ll be happy.

Playtonic, the new kids of the gaming studio block, is the name of the company that’s taking this already classic franchise, that originally started from Rare, into their hands in plans of crafting another successful chapter within its legacy. Though the game is being housed under a new gaming company, the developers in charge of this game are no strangers to Banjo Kazooie Project at all, as Gavin Price and Chris Sutherland, both of who created Playtonic and also worked for Rare but were laid off within the summer of last year, will be 2 of the main developers helping to shape this game into what they’ll hope to be another classic amongst the rest.

Chris and Price already have a pretty good resume regarding game development already. Chris, originally hired on as a engineer, found his niche in coding after doing some coding work for one of Rares most well known games, Donkey Kong Country. While Gavin, who started out doing quality assurance for Rare, got his hands on helping develop tons of games for the N64 (Perfect Dark, Donkey Kong 64, and Conkers Bad Fur Day just to name a few).

Though these 2 are going to be major assets to the spiritual success of this new Banjo Kazooie game, they’re definitely not doing it alone. At their side will also be Steve Mayles and Grant Kirkhope. Steve is the awesome artist who actually made the characters of the game while Grant was a music composer for Rare back in its hay day and is now working with Playtonic on their first game.

Fans of this franchise need to rejoice and be happy this is a thing now, as Banjo Kazooie is one of those games no matter how old you are, you can always go back to it and get that same warm, refreshing feel the very first time you played it. As of right now, not much is known about the game or its developed state though the game within the company has been code-named “Project Ukulele”. Though when more info is released, rest assured that we’ll be on it to give you in-depth details of everything it has to offer and then some.

Are you excited about the game? What Characters do you speculate to be in this new game? Leave your comments below and I’ll be back with more news soon. See Ya!
