Final Fantasy XIV Hits 4 Million Accounts
Final Fantasy XIV has reached an important milestone in its continuing growth, and to celebrate, developer Square Enix has an offer with the likely hope of reeling former players back in.
The developer made official announcement of the fact that their MMORPG has now passed 4 million subscribers. So their offer is that any former player of the title can try it again for a free 10-day period.
Of course, this 4 million accounts for the totality of registered accounts, rather than active subscribers. And certainly, this number still rather pales in comparison to the stagger 10 million subscribed to MMO juggernaut World of Warcraft. However, given the initial release of the title, its revamp and then subsequent re-release in finer form, 4 million subscribers is no small achievement for both the franchise and Square Enix.
The 10-day trial saw its start on February 27 and continues through March 9 at 1 am PDT. In order to access it, you must have previously purchased and registered a game, but have an inactive account. Meaning there’s no way to apply this to currently subscribed players. This offer is good across the PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
For newer games, there is as always a 14-day free trial that’s still available with the only hindrance being certain limitations such as cap at level 20.
