PlayStation 4 Sales Rapidly Approaching 20 Million

Posted January 6, 2015 by Ivan "Tech Curse" Mashkov in News

Are you a PlayStation fanperson? Are you?! Well, this news will light up the first few days after the holiday festivities. Sony has announced (via IGN) that their flagship console, the PlayStation 4, has seen sales in excess of 18.5 million units. This was due in part to the outstanding sales in the holiday shopping season. During this time PS4 sales reached 4.1 million units. Another little tidbit is that PlayStation Plus subscriptions have reached 10.9 million.

The PlayStation 4 is an amazing success. It is the fastest-selling console in the history of the video game industry. In fact Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said that, “people think PS2 was the biggest thing to ever happen to gaming of all-time; we are pacing above the PS2 run rate.” From day one the console maker has focused on the message. This console is for gamers by gamers. It is all about the games, not the media add-ons and restrictions that sank the Xbox One.

Will the PlayStation 4 beat the best-selling console in the history of the industry? Well, you’ll have to stay tuned as history is being made in the wonderful world of video games. Head on over to Gaming Precision for more PlayStation news, fanpersonism and love all around. Game Responsibly!
