MMO Zombie Survival Title H1Z1 Gets Steam Early Access

Posted January 21, 2015 by Kat in News

Sony has announced early access to their in-development title H1Z1, a post-apocalyptic zombie survival MMO.  It’s currently available via Steam Early Access for the PC starting at $20.

Similar to the game DayZ this zombie survival game will allow gamers to face off not only against other gamers, but also fight against the likes of starvation, weather, and animals.  Different modes being made available include player vs player, player vs environment, Headshots Only, Hardcore, and First-Person Only.

They are additionally testing out private servers through an invite-only process that will allow players to establish their own unique rulesets and the like.  Availability to these serves is expected to expand in the future.

Sony also explained about the current state of the game being made accessible, saying that “Early access isn’t for everyone and it’s fair to say you’re paying for something that isn’t finished, is buggy, and rough around the edges.”

The developer has also announced a partnership with Brendan Greene, best known as the creator of the extreme survival mod Battle Royale, which “plunges players into a bloody last man standing game-mode, where the only goal is to survive to the end.”

H1Z1 is also intended to come to the PlayStation 4, though at what point in the future we can expect to see that transition is not yet known.
