Capcom has announced something today that I consider to be pretty darn epic, as will anyone else that loves Dragon’s Dogma. Sometime this year, the PS3, PS4, and PC will be getting Dragon’s Dogma Online, a free-to-play, open-world title that will have microtransactions. This announcement came via the popular Japanese magazine Famitsu, so at this point in time no one knows if this game will release outside of Japan, though we all hope it will make it’s way to North America.

The article states that in Dragon’s Dogma Online the player will take on the role of an “Awakened” character who lives in Lestaria. In the game you can play in four-member parties, and the parties can consist of actual other players, or AI. In the game there will be a chat function, and lobbies that will hold up to 100 players. A Quick Matching feature will also be implemented.

The gameplay will be like that of its predecessors, Dragon’s Dogma and Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, where you take on massive monsters and various creatures. So far there have been four job classes named for DDO, Hunter, Priest, Fighter, and Shield Sage. There has even been an upgrade as to how you create your unique character. As more information becomes available, you can count on us here at GP to keep you in the loop! Until then, peace, love, and video games.
