Marvel vs Capcom Will No Longer be Available on PlayStation, Xbox

Posted December 23, 2014 by Kat in News

Marvel vs Capcom Origins has been available on both the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Store for some time now, but starting next week, that will no longer be the case.  Capcom has officially announced that their 2012 fighting title is going to see removal from both digital stores.

On their Capcom Unity blog, Capcom made the announcement saying, “Hey everyone wanted to let you know that if you don’t own Marvel vs. Capcom Origins yet, you may want to pick it up before it goes away.”  Of course, if you already own the game, or purchase before removal, access to it will remain accessible, it has been confirmed.  In the meanwhile, there’s not much word on why it’s being taken down – with speculation pointing toward the expiration of licensing rights – or if it may return.

Marvel vs Capcom Origins is a part of the longstanding series that serves as a $15 bundle that gives access to two arcade games from the 90s with HD upgrade: Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom.  The series, as indicated by its title, is best known for the opportunity to pit a number of characters from both universes up against one another in fighting array.

The game will be removed from the PSN on Dec 23, and then from the Xbox Store on Dec 31.
