UK Artist To Wear Oculus Rift For 28 Days

Posted November 24, 2014 by Bunneh3000 in News

Have you ever watched those magician shows where most of the show has them doing tricks and then the end of the show shows the result of some marathon survival trick? Well, UK artist Mark Farid is apparently doing a similar marathon survival trick of his own…using virtual reality.

More specifically, he is going to use the Oculus Rift headset to live another person’s life for 28 days! That’s right, he is going to use the Oculus Rift headset for 28 days straight! No potential for anything to go wrong, right?

Well, the full concept is that someone will film their life from a first person point of view for 28 days (um, who is going to be willing to do that?). They will then submit that film to Mr. Farid so that it can be translated into the Oculus Rift VR world. Then, Mark, with the assistance of others in his residence will live that person’s life in real time!

Now this means that Mark will not be able to eat or go to the bathroom or much of anything else (hence the other people helping him). He is running a kickstarter program to financially help this experiment along. Of course, there is a chance that Mr. Farid could develop psychosis due to living in VR for so long. To prevent that, he is hiring a psychiatrist to be on hand 24/7 to evaluate the whole process.

Good luck!
