New Details About Bloodborne

Posted November 23, 2014 by Kat in News

From Software and Sony have released more information and screenshots about Bloodborne, their upcoming RPG that stands as a spiritual successor to their hit Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls.  Among them includes new character information, as well as details regarding the city in which the game takes place, as well as how the combat will differ from the Souls outings.

A new character unveiled was the hunter Gyula, described as an “old veteran hunter” with “amazing” skill who ventured into the game’s city and hasn’t been seen since.  In addition, details were given about the location of Cainhust Castle, which is a frozen locale that was once home to a noble family that has since also disappeared.

In regards the combat style, one arena in which it will prove to be different from the Souls games is that it requires a more “pro-active” approach, particularly in taking on multiple enemies at once.  It will require gamers to remain on the offensive and take advantage of the game’s offering of multi-use weapons.  One such example given is the transforming cane, which has the ability to be used both as a short-range walking cane, or a long-range bladed whip.

Producer Masaaki Yamagiwa, in discussing these new details, also talked about the underground ruins beneath the city of Yharnam, saying, “What’s more, these ruins appear differently to each hunter brave enough to enter.”

More details are expected to be revealed next month at the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas.  Meanwhile, the latest blog post from Sony about Bloodborne can be read here.
