Dark Souls 2 Coming to Xbox One, PS4

Dark Souls 2

For those who may have missed out on the Dark Souls 2 experience, thanks to it being a last-gen release earlier this year, there’s some good news ahead: Bandai Namco and From Software are planning a next-gen release of the game, due out next year for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.  This means that for any Souls fan who may have held off – or wannabe Souls fan – this could very well be a great opportunity to pick it up in shiny new next-gen release.

This new version of the game is being subtitled Scholar of the First Sin and will be an expanded edition of the game.  What this means is that it will have a host a new features that includes new NPCs, an expanded story, and additional item descriptions.  And for those who already have the game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, these additions will be made available in a free download.

The next-gen edition will of course come with “enhanced graphics” that include higher resolution textures and improved lighting effects.  It will further increase the number of online players, and will also include all the punishing, episodic DLC that has since been released for the game.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is due out April 7, 2015 for the Xbox One and PS4, shortly after From Software releases Souls spiritual successor Bloodborne to the PS4.  You can check out the game’s announcement trailer here.
