Battlefield 5 To Be Military Themed In 2016

Posted November 24, 2014 by Bunneh3000 in News

Recently, the minds at EA discussed the future of Battlefield. According to EA CFO Blake Jorgensent at the 2014 UBS Global Technology Conference (via Gamespot), he revealed he’s already seen the game and thinks it’s a “fun, new Battlefield.” With a number of comments and discussions with the media, DICE and EA have confirmed that Battlefield 5 is in the making and it is military themed once again.

Battlefield 4 has just released its final DLC pack recently and the wheels for Visceral Games’ Battlefield Hardline haven’t even hit the ground running. Knowing this, EA has confirmed that we probably won’t see Battlefield 5 until 2016. This should give Hardline a chance to flesh out their cops n’ robbers themed Battlefield with DLC and work out any bugs.

Hardline has been delayed a bit so that Visceral Games can implement the feedback that they obtained during the beta back in June. One of the more common comments that community had was that they thought the offering in the beta wasn’t too much like Battlefield and that it seemed as if they just slapped Battlefield on the title to sell more. As a result, Visceral Games asked for more time to add more modes, make ‘Battlefield’ more of a tie in, and polish their initial delivery.

Battlefield fans are looking for something different and innovative in its next offering. The Final Stand DLC had shades of the fan favorite 2142 game that was a PC hit in the Battlefield 2 days. With Call of Duty and Titanfall taking the futuristic route, maybe we’ll see Battlefield take on the future as well. One can only hope though!
