Xbox Reveals Games With Gold For October

Posted September 29, 2014 by Bunneh3000 in News

Yay…Games With Gold has a few more games to give away that we probably already have. *sigh*

First of all Microsoft is giving away the FPS Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in October. This game came out 4 years ago and was probably the first Battlefield game on consoles to finally get the recipe for destruction right. Despite having a decent single player experience, this version by DICE, was finally getting the scope of the maps and the structure of the engagements correct. Destroying buildings and flying copters finally required similar skill as the once untouchable PC version simply called Battlefield 2. Still, receiving this game in 2014 is a bit of a slap on the face…. again.

Next up is a game that received a lot of critical acclaim but many feel should have seen much more sales than it saw. Darksiders 2 saw the return of now belly up developer THQ’s beloved storylines where you play as one of the Four Horsemen…Death. Complete with Jesper Kyd music (Hitman series, Assassin’s Creed), and more recently released in 2012, this is actually a decent selection to be given away for free.

Lastly is a brand new indie game called Chariot. Here’s how Microsoft describes it:

Chariot, the newest ID@Xbox game from Canadian developers Frima, is a couch co-op platformer that can be played alone or with a friend. Players take the role of the brave Princess or her faithful Fiancé as they maneuver the departed king’s coffin-on-wheels through 25 levels set in five vibrant underground environments, with his majesty’s ghost giving them a piece of his mind every step of the way. Filled to the brim with emergent physics-based gameplay, Chariot offers hours of exciting exploration, fast-paced ride sequences and mountains upon mountains of loot!

We’ll see if this is good since this will be the program’s ONLY free offering for the Xbox One in October.
