For those of you who may have been living under a rock, hiding from the world of gaming and the news that comes along with it, there’s this new thing from Bandai Namco, and it may just blow your mind.

This new thing is called Pokken Tournament, and it’s the perfect blend of fighter game Tekken and the beloved Pokemon series. Ever get tired of the turn-based strategy that is the Pokemon games? Well, this may be a little more up your alley. You still play as your favorite Pokemon, but you will now duke it out with the same fighting you’d do in a Tekken game. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada said of the game:  “Whether you are a causal player, a regular player, or a hardcore player, anyone who likes Pokemon can have fun.”

The game is set for release for Japanese arcades next year in 2015. We have no news as of yet as to whether we here in the west will see it or not – but in my opinion, it’s very, very likely. It’s Pokemon and it’s Tekken, it’ll make it’s way here soon enough. I’m hoping it’ll come to the Wii U as an exclusive. That’ll be one game that is sure to boost sales.

What do you think of this latest mash-up? Will this become a new trend in gaming, mixing one franchise with another? That’s just what they did in the upcoming Hyrule Warriors, which is The Legend of Zelda fused with Dynasty Warriors.
