Metroid Concept Art Surfaces, But Will We Ever See A Game?

Just recently, some new concept art surfaced for supposed Metroid game that was to release on the Nintendo 3DS. The company behind this concept art of a game we’ve yet to receive is none other than Next Level Games, the company responsible for the likes of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and the Wii’s version of PunchOut!!

The artwork shows Samus Aran in her famous Varia Suit along with a couple bosses. The portfolio surfaced online and belongs to Nelson “Dedos” Garcia and Xochitl. Included in the very same portfolio are images for the Wii version of Punch Out!!

Someone came out and stated that the game was a real thing, but that Next Level Games decided to throw it on the back burner, so to speak, due to Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. The source stated that the supposed Metroid game “was about as bare-bones as it gets, but it was still pretty fun.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a good Metroid title, the last one being Metroid: Other M which wasn’t taken in very well by most fans of the franchise. Shinya Takahashi has stated earlier this year that with there being two different styles of Metroid games – the 2D like Super Metroid and the 3D like the Metroid Prime series – that they felt the need to take care of both different styles of game, say they made a new Metroid.

“We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play. And the hope is that at some point in the near future we’ll be able to share something about them.” -Shinya Takahashi

I want nothing more than to see a good Metroid game. I’d like to see two, actually, a 2D for the 3DS and a 3D for the Wii U…Nintendo…pretty please?
