E3 2014: Ubisoft’s Press Conference Rundown

Posted June 9, 2014 by Felisha "Nightingale" Silva in Features

With E3 going on this week, we are getting more an more game news as the time passes. Today were the press conferences for Microsoft, Sony, EA, and Ubisoft. I was in charge of Ubisoft this year, so here’s what went down during Ubisoft’s presentation!

It started off with what seemed like a game trailer, but turns out it was actually the first 5 minutes of Far Cry 4. The game starts out in a train at the base of the Himalayas, and it’s complete with brutal gun fire and a cute little monkey. You are introduced to the villain which has been shown on the already-released art for the game. The guy is insane and brutal. The game looks to be amazing.

Next up, they showed the next thing in the Just Dance franchise, Just Dance 2015, which will feature Pharell’s “Happy”, among others of today’s hits. Just Dance 2015 will release in October of this year for Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U from what I could see of the brief end credit. Ubisoft also announced Just Dance Now, a free mobile app that sync’s to your PC or Smart TV and makes your mobile device into the controller while you join in the fun of dancing with people from everywhere! They didn’t specify when the app would be up and running.

They showed a nice long trailer for Tom Clancy’s The Division, showing the decline as the outbreak took hold of humanity in New York. Watching the epic trailer, it made me reminiscent of The Last of Us. The Division will release sometime in 2015.

They showed footage of the upcoming racing game, The Crew, set to release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

They delved even further into the new Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Ubisoft has always had a knack for showcasing history in a brilliant way in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and Unity is no exception. There will be four player multiplayer in the game, and the game will release on OCtober 28th of this year.

Ubisoft announced a new work out titled called Shape Up, which they partnered with Microsoft to bring this game to the Xbox One exclusively. They demo-ed an activity called “Piano Keys” that had a Guitar Hero type feel to it as you follow along with the beat of the song by stepping on the right colored ‘keys’.

They also showed a very heart-breaking trailer for Valiant Hearts: The Great Wars, which is a puzzle type game where you play as a soldier along side your canine companion.

And just when you thought it was all over, they showed us one final title. A title where you play in one of two opposing teams – The kidnappers and the rescuers. In a game of skill and tactics, and out-witting your opponent team, whether you’re the kidnappers or the rescuers. That game is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, and it looked beautiful.

I can’t wait to see what else E3 will grace us with this week. Be on the look out for my coverage on Nintendo’s Digital E3 Event tomorrow! Peace, Love, and Video Games, Nightingale out!
