Zombie games are plentiful nowadays thanks to the immense popularity of The Walking Dead TV show and comic. It seems that gamers and fans alike have run in droves to get that zombie apocalypse experience. Last year Microsoft struck gold by signing on developer Undead Labs as an exclusive independent and their game State of Decay was proof.

Recently, Undead Labs founder and ArenaNet co-founder Jeff Strain, attended PAX East and explained the future for State Of Decay. While most other zombie games were focused on the individual and survival, State of Decay had a unique approach. The game put you in control of an entire group of survivors complete with varying personalities, skills, and abilities. One might even say that this set up was built for multiplayer. Well, Jeff Strain explained that graduating this game to an eventual MMO is the next evolutionary step for the title.

The State of Decay fan community always clamored for multiplayer and while this version currently was deemed unable to execute the mode in its current setup, Jeff Strain explained that the next version of the game, codenamed Class4, will managed to have just that. More specifically, Strain wanted the game to have more community features and support for group play.
