Weekly News Rundown: Sony’s Virtual Reality, Assassin’s Creed Times 2 , & Titanfall 360 Delayed
Salutations, gamers and gamerettes! It’s Friday, and you know what that means…It’s time for another Weekly News Rundown, where I discuss the biggest news of the week, and this week we got some pretty news from Sony at this year’s GDC, or Game Developers Conference! After quite a while of speculating and wondering, Sony finally announced their very own Virtual Reality headset for the PlayStation 4, which they call ‘Project Morpheus’. Shuhei Yoshida said of the VR headset, “We believe Morpheus will further enhance the world of PlayStation 4 with seamless integration with PlayStation Camera, DualShock 4, and PS Move.”
It was even mentioned that gaming companies such as Crytek and Epic Games has already joined in on Project Morpheus. They also said that it has compatibility with Thief and EVE Valkyrie. Since Project Morpheus is still in its prototype stage, there are no final specs released, but as of right now it has a 1080p display, low latency, and 360 positional tracking. If this works out the way Sony hopes it does, it could certainly change the future in gaming.
And for Xbox 360 owners everywhere, this next piece of news is rather upsetting, but only if you’ve been waiting for your copy of Titanfall. The port for the game was already delayed, and guess what? It’s been delayed again. The new release date is now April 8th here in North America and the 11th in Europe for the 360 version, even though the Xbox One and PC versions came out just last week. The reason for the delay according to EA is to “deliver an epic Titanfall experience”.
Now…it’s time for a rumor. Rumor has it that we will be getting two Assassin’s Creed games this fall. You read that right…not one, but two all new Assassin’s Creed titles. The first one is code-named or called Unity, which is set in 18th century Paris and stars an assassin named Arno, who dons a black assassin garb. Kotaku obtained screenshots of the game from an outside source, and when asking Ubisoft about the game, there was no comment made. Unity is said to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while the second game, which is called or code-named Comet, will release for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Both games also will allegedly release for the PC.
But seeing as how this is just a rumor, we can only speculate so much. For a look at more screenshots of Unity, hop on over to Kotaku and give them a look.
And now for the last piece to our Weekly News Rundown: New game releases from the past week! This week, we got some pretty awesome titles. Let’s start off with the 18th’s release:
- Final Fantasy X/X-2 (PS3, PS Vita)
