Stig Asmussen, who is well known for his work on the God of War series, has left Sony Santa Monica, according to Sony. “Stig”, as he is known by the community, is known for his work on the God of War trilogy. He was an environmental artist on the original game, then Art Director on the sequel and, finally, creative director on God of War 3.

“SCEA can confirm that Stig Asmussen is no longer with Santa Monica Studio.” – Sony’s statement regarding Mr. Asmussen’s departure

I should note that Stig didn’t work on the most recent title in the God of War series, God of War: Ascension. He was working on an unannounced project that may have been cancelled. The project cancellation led to layoffs and it is possible that he was let go or left of his volition as a result. He is reportedly interviewing with several developers.

Sony Santa Monica’s flagship video game series, called God of War, is a third person action adventure game that follows the exploits of Kratos, who is seeking revenge against the Greek gods. Set in the time of myth and legends that is Ancient Greece, the game prominently features bigger than life bosses, epic battles and incredible cinematic experiences. The latest entry in the series is considered a disappointment due to the fact that it didn’t meet the expectations that fans have for this franchise.
