CES 2014: Next Gen Sales Numbers Revealed for PS4 and Xbox One

Posted January 8, 2014 by Bunneh3000 in News

One of these days, a developer is just going to outright make a gaming console maker simulation game because this generation’s war is exciting! The 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV typically doesn’t have a ton of gaming related news, but at times the bits that come out of it can be eye opening.

Recently, both Sony and Microsoft opened the books to reveal their holiday end of 2013 console sales numbers for their next-gen consoles. Sony is doling out Playstation 4’s to retailers at a record pace as their 6 week sales numbers have reached 4.2 million in sales worldwide. The word on the street is that this number probably could have even been higher given that most retailers have a PS4 shortage. It is currently unclear as to how much higher this number could have been if Sony had more manufacturing capacity.

Microsoft is also doing quite well with their 5 and a half week numbers reaching 3 million in sales worldwide.

Sony big wigs are projecting sales around 5 million by March 2014 while Microsoft has yet to provide any sales projections.
