GP Picks

This week’s GP Picks is brought to you by Christmas. Merry Christmas to one and all and show your yuletide cheer by buying an iPhone 5s at 25% off!

Seasons Greetings, gamers and players, and welcome to the final edition of GP Picks for the year of 2013. Despite my cynical introduction, I actually love Christmas. It’s my favorite holiday because I love the idea of spreading good will and peace and love. I don’t get into the materialism of the season and I’m not religious. However, I love the positivity the holiday can provide and I think people from any walks of life can appreciate that! So I recommend this week that you get that special game you’ve been putting off all year. Whether you’ve yet to go through Grand Theft Auto V or you need to catch up on the amazing indie titles that have been released this year such as Gone Home or The Stanley Parable. However, if you want something new to play, there is a new release this week that may not match the tone of the holidays but it does match its quality.

After waiting literally the whole year, the second season of The Walking Dead has finally been released. The game takes place after the first season and follows season one favorite Clementine instead of Lee. The game features improvements from the first game first seen on Telltale Games’ other title The Wolf Among Us. Graphically, the game is a step up as well. I suppose that if you weren’t into the first game or you haven’t played all of the episodes in the first season, this won’t appeal to you or you should complete that first. However, those who have gone through the first season and finished the 400 days DLC and have kept your save file safe eagerly anticipating the release of the second season, buy this game NOW! You can get the first episode and buy the full season ahead of time on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

And there you have it. Another week, another collection of games to spend your money on. Each Friday, I’ll recommend games for you all to play. As always, these aren’t reviews so much as they are suggestions, as I won’t weigh pros and cons of the game. These choices will be new games released that week, but sometimes I will choose games with new downloadable content. I’ll also recommend older retro titles because sometimes you need to retreat to move forward! Be sure to check out GP Picks every week to see what’s worth picking up. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to let my mother know I love her by buying her a 56″ flat screen TV at 50% off.

Like I said this is the final edition of GP Picks for the year. GP Picks will return on January 10th, 2014 so in the meantime, plow through that back log in between partying with loved ones and friends. Thank you so much for reading my recommendations each week and we’ll have an even better weekly feature for you in the next year. So Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
