Todd Papy, Director of God of War Ascension, Left Sony Santa Monica

Posted November 15, 2013 by Claire in News

Fans of the popular God of War series were recently stunned and surprised after hearing of news concerning a director of one of the following in the series, God of War: Ascension. God of War: Ascension is the seventh game in the series and follows along the lines of being a prequel to the rest of the God of War series. The game takes place in Greece and deals with Greek mythology while playing in a third-person type of game centered around adventure and action. The game stars the hero of the story, Kratos and tells of his life and the events previous to the others in the God of War series.

The recent news in the God of War development universe involves the director, Todd Papy. Todd Papy recently left Sony Santa Monica after announcing of his departure on his Twitter account. Papy stated in a Twitter post:

“Yesterday was my last day @SonySantaMonica. I’m extremely honored to have been part of that team. <3 you SSM! Time for the next adventure!!”

Papy not only helped with Ascension, but also helped with the design of God of War III. Along with mentioning how he was departing Sony Santa Monica, he made sure that fans knew that Sony was still in good hands with many people and new talent to continue to help Sony Santa Monica. Todd also explained that he was moving to Germany to experience a new culture and the experiences offered there. He also stated that he was not planning on quitting game development.

Whether or not Papy had gone to Germany to work with another game development team is still unsure, however we wish him well in his adventures here at Gaming Precision. What do you think of his sudden departure? Do you think he is actually going to Germany to work with another gaming studio? Let me know below and until next time…Bye Bye!
