Titanfall Exclusive to Microsoft

Hey Sony fans! Do you want to play Titanfall? You know that its coming to the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC only, right? What, did you think that the game would eventually be brought over to Sony consoles? Well, TOO BAD! YOU’RE WRONG! During a conference call with investors, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that Titanfall will never coming to the PlayStation 4. Specifically, Jorgensen said that Titanfall will be exclusive to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC “for the life of the title.”

After Jorgensen said this, developer Respawn’s Vince Zampella confirmed the statement on his Twitter. Quote, “Always MS exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently.” It seems that Titanfall started off as a timed exclusive but EA and Microsoft eventually made a deal to make the game exclusive. That’s not to say Respawn or Titanfall the franchise are / is a Microsoft exclusive however.

When asked whether or not Respawn would make games for the PlayStation 4, Zampella replied, “Of course we will, just not the first Titanfall.” Now not only does this mean that Respawn will make games for the PlayStation 4 but it also means that potentially only the first Titanfall game is exclusive. Seeing as Titanfall is already assumed to be a new franchise as oppose to a one off title, this could very well be the case.

Titanfall looks really interesting to me but I was willing to wait to play it on the PlayStation 4 because with the state of the video game industry where there’s no such thing as a third party exclusive, I was certain it would come to Sony’s new console eventually. I guess the Xbox One truly does have a killer app coming to its console early next year after all. What do you think of the exclusivity of Titanfall? Will this convince you to get an Xbox One?
