Sony Objects To Ellen Page ‘Nudity’ Hack in Beyond Two Souls
Earlier this month, a since closed down Reddit imgur album contained screenshots of a nude version of Ellen Page’s character, Jodie Holmes, taken from Beyond Two Souls. These photos have since spread like wildfire throughout the net and now Sony is on a missions to wipe them out. At one point in the game, there is a scene where Jodie takes a shower yet it is cleverly shot so as not to reveal any nudity. According to Kotaku, the pictures circulating are from a QA build of the game where the entire scene can be accessed with alternative camera angles via a debug menu. This menu, of course, is not available on a normal Playstation 3 so there is no need to wonder how this was done.
Sony is actively searching for sites and asking them to remove the photos according to various sites like Cinema Blend and Eskimo Press.
“The images are from an illegally hacked console and is very damaging for Ellen Page,” reads a Sony statement shared with Cinema Blend. “It’s not actually her body. I would really appreciate if you can take the story down to end the cycle of discussion around this.”
Quantic Dream had a similar situation in their previous game Heavy Rain surrounding their female character, Madison. In that situation, the glitch would allow players to play the rest of the game as the fully nude version of the character. Of course, in that game, the difference is that there is some nudity within a sex scene that is featured in the playable version of the game. For some, the existence of such a nude model within Beyond Two Souls was an inevitable find given the highly advanced full body rendering used to make the game.
Thankfully, a majority of these pics have been removed
