Sega Confirms Ownership Rights Over Atlus

Fans of the beloved Persona series were in for a huge shock after Sega recently inquired about purchasing the rights to ownership over the gaming company, Atlus. Atlus, as many know, is a gaming production and distribution company in Japan. Many popular gaming titles was distributed under Atlus including the Megami Tensei series, Dragon’s Crown, Catherine, Trauma Center and the Persona series. Atlus fan were shocked and some curious as to Sega’s decision to purchase ownership of Atlus.

However, until recently fans were unsure if Sega was to get the rights to Atlus until recent news has clarified and confirmed that Sega now owns all of the IP that Atlus currently holds. A press release that was released from Sega Sammy confirms that Sega now owns the property of Atlus IP. The release stated that not only console games will be released with the IP, but that more PC and mobile games using the IP is scheduled for future release. The price for Sega to take control of Atlus is over 14 billion yen and is supposed to be set in stone as of later this year. Whether Sega continues to release titles in the Persona and Megami Tensei series is still a mystery and no known information concerning these games has been released. However, Sega has been known to continue on series in a game, so whether they continue to release titles form popular series is up to the consumers and the production staff at Sega.
