The developer of BioShock Infinite, one of the best games of the year and contender for the title of Game Of The Year, Irrational Games is laying off a small number of employees. The studio confirmed that the layoffs will not affect the work on the recently announced DLC for the game, Burial at Sea. Kotaku reached out to Irrational Games and received a statement regarding the layoffs: “In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of 8 employees today. Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best.”

Bioshock: Infinite follows Booker DeWitt, a former soldier and Pinkerton agent, who is asked to “bring us the girl, and wipe away the debt.” He must travel to the flying city of Columbia and find the girl. Though, at first, the city appears to be heaven on earth, but as Booker continues onward, he finds the illusion shattered and the many wrongs that remain hidden from view. He finds the girl, Elizabeth, who has powers that are beyond one’s imagination, however she sees the world in a different light. They must find their way out of this crazed city that is rapidly descending into chaos. Gaming Precision gave the game a 4.5 out of 5 on our scale, and the game’s Metacritic rating stands at 94 out of 100.
