Techland Opens Up A New Studio For Development on Dying Light

Posted August 20, 2013 by Felisha "Nightingale" Silva in News

Techland, the Polish-based video game developer responsible for the Dead Island series is in the process of opening their latest studio, Digital Scapes Studio. And where is this new studio you may ask? Well, they came all the way over here to North America, more specifically,  Vancouver, Canada. Techland got former Technical Director for Radical Entertainment Marcin Chady to be their managing director for the new studio. On a side note, for those of you unsure of who Radical Entertainment is, Radical Entertainment is the studio that brought us Prototype 2.

Digital Scapes will be partially in charge of developing the latest game from Techland, Dying Light. Dying Light is a fast-paced zombie themed game with first-person perspective and relies on melee for fighting off the zombies. Think of a zombie game combined with the free-running and parkour of games such as Assassin’s Creed and Mirror’s Edge. In the game you will have day and night cycles, where the zombies are more aggressive at night. You also have time-sensitive choices In the game. For example, the demo shows one where you must choose between saving an innocent child or running to get to a supply drop before others can intercept it. The game Dying Light will be brought to us by Warner Bros. Interactive sometime next year in 2014. The game will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.

We can’t wait to hear more on this upcoming zombie-slayer game. Hopefully we will get more details sooner rather than later. A Mirror’s Edge type of game where you can beat the crap out of zombies with a first-person view? Sign me up! Let’s just say, with all of the good games coming out next year, 2014 just cannot get here soon enough for us gamers.

I personally find this to be a carbon copy of other zombie games and with the choice making decisions, a ripoff of The Walking Dead game.

    Do. Not. Want.
