EA Humble Bundle Breaks Records

Humble Bundle EA

EA recently teamed up with Humble Bundle for the most recent release of packaged games and the return has been overwhelming.  Breaking all records as the most successful Humble Bundle to date, the deal recently closed, with having sold over 2.1 million bundles, resulting in a truly impression $10.5 million dollars.  What’s more, while the benefits made by bundles are usually split between the developers and charities made available through the process, as determined by the person buying the bundle, this particular time around it was set so that all the proceeds made go to charity.

EA replied through their Twitter account with a very enthusiastic “Thank You to everyone who has contributed and played!”  Meanwhile, the Humble Bundle staff replied with an even more excited, “WHOA, 2 MILLION ORIGIN BUNDLES SOLD!  A BIG HUG AND THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!”

Among the games included for this Bundle were Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Crysis 2 Ultimate Edition, Mirror’s Edge, and Medal of Honor.  Those who paid above the average also got access to Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3, while the original Populous, and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 were added later in the process.  Given the impressive array of high-quality games offered by EA for this bundle, perhaps it’s not too much of a surprise to see it reach such heights in the success and return rates.  Even so, kudos to EA, both for the generation donation, and for the overwhelming amount of records broken in the process.

All proceeds from this Humble Bundle are going to five charities: the Human Rights Campaign, Watsi, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross.  Those who bought the bundle have access to the games not only through EA’s Origin, but with the exception of Dead Space 3 and Battlefield 3, also through Steam as well.
