Super Smash Bros Coming In 2014

During this year’s E3, Nintendo streamed their E3 edition of Nintendo Direct. At the end of their news show, they debuted a trailer, announcing the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. In the beginning of the trailer, you see the Villager from Animal Crossing checking his mailbox, and receiving something that looks to be an invitation. Shortly there after, it introduces you to the extensive roster of characters from all the past games. You will of course have Mario, and they showed Bowser from Super Mario Bros., Link from the Legend of Zelda, Samus Aran from Metroid, Pit from Kid Icarus, Pikachu from Pokemon, Fox McCloud from StarFox, Donkey Kong, and Kirby. They still hold true to the 2D fighting style, while having breath-taking 3D graphics, with what appears to be some slight cel-shading added in. If you haven’t seen the video, do it now. It looks beyond beautiful.

Close to the end of the trailer, they announced the Villager from Animal Crossing to actually be a playable character in this latest installment to the Smash Bros. series. Some of the scenes it showed of the Villager in battle showed him using a shovel to dig small holes to trap his opponents, an axe to chop down trees, causing damage to his foes by falling on them, and even the Villager using his clumsiness to damage them as well!

And just when you thought the trailer was over and done with, a warning flashes up on the screen, saying “New Challenger Approaches!”. You then see Mario, Donkey Kong, Link and Kirby all turn to look up at the top of a small mountain, and you see the silhouette of a male character. That character turns out to be none other than Capcom’s very own Megaman, in his signature Blue-Bomber suit! He even has his trusty canine companion, Rush, with him in the game.

Sometime after the E3 edition of Nintendo Direct aired, Nintendo released yet another video showing another confirmed character being added to the roster: The female fitness trainer from Nintendo’s Wii Fit. According to the short video introducing the new character, the Wii Fit trainer will use yoga moves as attacks! Hey, at least there will be some hilarity in Super Smash Bros, right?

During the trailer, you will see various new stages to battle in. From the trailer you can see the train from Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, an Animal Crossing themed location, the town of Skyloft, from Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Kakariko Village straight from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, a NintenDogs stage, a Dr. Wily stage from Mega Man, and of course the trusty old wrestling ring arena, similar to those in past games. And from what I’m hearing around on the internet, the stages for the game will vary from the Nintendo 3DS to the Wii U.

No exact date was released, all that was stated was that Super Smash Bros. will be coming to us sometime in 2014 for both the Wii U and 3DS. How do all of you out there feel about the latest Smash Bros. game? As for my opinion, I cannot wait, this game is going to be incredible! It makes buying my Wii U all the more worth it, seeing as at the moment there really aren’t too many titles out for the Nintendo Wii U. All I have to say is 2014 needs to hurry up and come now.
