Kojima Wants Original MGS Remade Again

Legendary developer Kojima, as he’s known in the gaming world, wants the original Metal Gear Solid game remade once again to show its true potential. There have been remakes already done on the first two games and one is still available as an exclusive for the Gamecube. The remakes were nothing that anyone really wanted at the time and seemed like a grab at fame because of how popular the original game was. Hideo Kojima simply stated in an interview that a fan requested that the original Metal Gear Solid be remade and it seems that if the developer agrees, it’s going to happen.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 both had their shot at HD when they got madeover for the release of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Games have certainly changed how they have been made and according to Joystiq, there will have to be some updating done to the mechanics as a remake while keeping everything from the original the same wouldn’t come out quite right. On a personal level, I wonder why Kojima hasn’t made a spin off of Metal Gear Solid yet as that would sell just for being associated with the legendary series.

The newest Metal Gear Solid games may have fallen away from the core of the game a bit, but starting a new series or even just continuing on this would seem a better route. It just doesn’t seem like a good marketing decision on Kojima’s part because he’s already been dabbling around in remakes and has kicked out an HD collection with several remade copies in there. On the other hand, there’s no game like the first Metal Gear Solid and it would be a good note to end it on a rehash of the best title in the series.
