HD Edition of Tales of Symphonia Announced
An article on IGN just made my day today. Namco Bandai has recently announced that they will be releasing an HD edition of Tales of Symphonia sometime early next year exclusively on the PlayStation 3. For those unfamiliar with the title from the famous Tales of series, Tales of Symphonia was originally released on the Nintendo GameCube back in 2003, with it’s sequel, Dawn of the New World following on the Nintendo Wii in 2008. The HD edition that Namco Bandai announced will contain both Tales of Symphonia games on it, and is being entitled Tales of Symphonia Chronicles for the time being, though that title may change between now and early 2014. Senior VP of Namco Bandai Europe stated the following:
As a response to fans’ expectations to bring more Tales of titles to the West, we are very proud to join our headquarters in Japan and our colleagues in the US to make a worldwide announcement for Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (Working Title). The Tales of series, which is already very successful in Japan, has been expanding greatly in the Western market, and we believe J-RPG fans will continue being pleased with this updated HD edition of two of the most classic Tales of games.
I don’t think I could be anymore excited for this release. Though I never had the pleasure of playing the second of the two, I played the first on in it’s entirety in two-player mode with my sister. The game was incredible…It evoked emotions and feelings throughout the game, bring me everything from moments of sadness, to avid anger, to blissful happiness. Not only is the gameplay great, but the story alone is what made it so important to me. Still to this day, Tales of Symphonia is one of the best games I’ve ever played, hands down. Let’s just say, 2014 cannot come soon enough for me.
