General Zod Will be the Next DLC Character for Injustice: Gods Among Us

Posted June 24, 2013 by Kat in News

General Zod has been announced as the final downloadable character for this set for season pass holders of Injustice: Gods Among Us.  He follows in the ranks of Lobo, the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, and Scorpion.  The announcement came after promises at the start of the month from NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon that there would be at least one more DLC character released in this set, and indicated that future characters chosen would be based on fan requests, and in fact, that all characters chosen had been based on demand from the fans.  As his twitter states, “choice of the additional DLC character (or characters) came from player requests!”

In a new gameplay trailer, which gives a release date of July 2, we see General Zod go toe to toe with Superman, showing a number of movies similar to the Man of Steel himself, such as heat vision, as well as a few unique movies, including the ability to trap enemies in the Phantom Zone.  As it due his military background, he also uses a gun, and the end of the trailer shows his finishing move, which involves driving Superman straight through the moon, which is both awesome and ludicrous in its way.

Though future characters for the next set are unknown, there are strong indications that Martian Manhunter will eventually make his way into the game, based on his appearance in the trailer for Scorpion’s release, as well as the fact that he has been one of the most requested characters.  Ed Boon’s twitter also has a poll going for the next character, in which Red Hood and Zatanna currently are in an almost dead heat for first place.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game based off the DC Comics universe, and was released in April for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
