Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft Card System

Blizzard has finally hit the casual, yet strategic nail on the head with Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and everything that they have done with the game so far. This title has proved that just because an idea has been done before, does not mean that it cannot improve and despite all of the crap that people are giving Blizzard for this game, they still have a huge fan base, including me, that can’t wait to get our hands on this title. I think that at PAX East, there was an amazing example of how the card system works along the lines of creating decks, opening new packs, and crafting new cards.

There is an amazing balance of being able to use old cards or different cards when opening a new pack to really make that ultimate deck that you think nobody can beat. One of my favorite aspects about Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is that you aren’t necessarily playing AS the heroes of Warcraft, but you are playing as classes that have different hero powers and spell affects to the creatures and spells that you cast. I think that I am most excited for the system that really proves how fun opening a new pack of five cards can be, because as you highlight the cards, a color shines out of the bottom, letting you know just how rare it is.

Any duplicate cards received can be broken down and made to craft a card that you just aren’t receiving and another favorite feature of mine is The Forge, which is basically the ability to make a deck for the round that you are about to have so there can be no accusations of cheating and it is all a matter of luck and skill because we all know how those World of Warcraft players can get.
