Do you love retro platform games with 16-bit pixel style graphics? Do you like games that actually utilize the Nintendo 3DS’ glasses free 3D in a meaningful way and is near essential to the gameplay? If so, you probably loved Mutant Mudds when it was released on the 3DS eShop a year ago. You were probably also hoping for a sequel.

Developer Renegade Kid has officially confirmed today via Twitter that Mutant Mudds 2 is in development. When Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham was sent a tweet saying that they were hoping for a sequel to the first game, Watsham replied “A sequel will happen, for sure.” UK gaming site Nintendo Fans Online then tweeted Watsham, asking if that last tweet was confirming a sequel, to which Watsham replied “Yes, Mutant Mudds 2 is confirmed.”

No release date has been announced yet but Watsham did say “We are hoping both games [Mutant Mudds Deluxe and Mutant Mudds 2] are released in this quarter. No dates yet.” Mutant Mudds Deluxe is the Wii U version of the game that’s coming to the Wii U eShop and will feature exclusive content.  We know that Mutant Mudds 2 will be coming to the Nintendo eShop but whether it will come to the 3DS eShop, the Wii U eShop or both remains to be acknowledged. No word yet on a PC or iOS version either though the first game saw releases on those platforms as well.

One fan suggesting Renegade Kid release a cartridge collection of Mutant Mudds 1 and 2. Watsham replied “that would be awesome,” and later tweeted, “RT if you would buy a Mutant Mudds 1 & 2 combo pack on cartridge for 3DS!” This is interesting considering Watsham recently expressed concern over 3DS catridges recently being pirated.

I myself managed to play the PC version of Mutant Mudds and enjoyed what I played. I’m pleased to hear there’s a sequel but as I don’t own either a 3DS or Wii U, I have to hope for a PC version later on. What about you? Are you now anticipating a Mutant Mudds 2 game or do you not care? Have you played the first game? Did you enjoy it? Leave a comment below and let us know.

Hello. I'm Esteban Sky Cuevas aka Colorwind and I'm the managing editor for Gaming Precision. I've been gaming ever since I was six years old when I played Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at someone's house and then begged for a video game console. That console was a NES but I quickly moved on to a SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Atari 2600, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, PS2, Saturn, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and 3DS. I like all genres of video games but I'm partial to Platform titles, Action Adventure games, and fighters. I love old SNK fighters like Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury, and my favorite video game character is Sonic the Hedgehog. My top five consoles are in reverse order the Xbox 360, SNES, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis and Sony PlayStation, although I often talk about how the Sega Saturn deserves more attention than it got. Check out my Twitter and Tumblr if you would like to follow me.
