F.T.L. is a new PC Indie game that has recently been released everywhere. Fans take on the role of the commander of a ship that goes through many battle scenarios and cases to become upgraded and eventually turn in to a fleet that you get control of. It’s a different kind of game since there is no real action and you spend most of the game just prepping your ship for the battle that is ahead of you and reading what has happened in the battle turned in to a new mini-addiction for me in this game that is a refreshing change from a lot of others in this genre. It’s definitely not for the simple-minded or those that have no patience.

F.T.L. rewards strategy, tactician style gameplay, and overall use of your brain and I for one can’t get enough of that. I admit that games like these aren’t popular at all, and it may not fit in with the genres that have been released all year. Only two guys made the game and it turned out to be a successful kick-starter project for the kind of game that it is. The focus is more of a space ship management, type of gameplay, diverting power when things go wrong in the shield, targeting specific enemies to get an edge in battle, even fighting off invaders. Running from the rebel fleet is something that brought joy and dynamic results to me and my ship when I leveled up through earning scrap metal throughout the world.

One of the main things I liked about the game was the way you could pick how you wanted to control your ship and approach battles whether it be building shields and upgrading those like crazy or going to the stealth side of the game and improving the cloaking and such on your ship. F.T.L. is an awesome little time waster and I’d recommend computer players checking out this little entertainer
