Assassin’s Creed III has sold 7 million units since its launch on October 30 of this year and has become Ubisoft’s fastest-selling game in history. The stealth-action game launched on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and sold 3.5 million units during its first week alone. Since then the game has been released on the Wii U on November 18 and the PC on November 20.

Along with announcing these new worldwide sales figures, Ubisoft also announced some in-game statistics. In single player missions alone, players have played more than 82 centuries of game time and have executed in excess of 3 billion assassinations along the way. In multiplayer, Assassin’s Creed III has attracted more than double the number of players compared to the previous entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Players have performed over 250 million assassinations in more than 5 billion multiplayer sessions since launch.

“The reception for Assassin’s Creed III has been exceptional, and this success has positioned the game among the best sellers of the 2012 holiday season” said senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key. “We knew we had something special on our hands when Assassin’s Creed III was launched, and we’re really excited and proud to see how much fans are enjoying the latest installment in the franchise.”

There’s still more Assassin’s Creed III content coming in 2013 such as the non-canon DLC The Tyranny of King Washington, which takes place in a fictional history where after the Revolutionary War, George Washington seized power and became King. There’s also a pack of new maps and characters on the way as well.

Assassin’s Creed III has been getting positive reviews from video game critics but there also seems to be a sense of disappointment as the game didn’t match its hype. What do you think? Are you enjoying the game? Comment below and let us know.
