XCOM: Enemy Unknown Looks Interesting

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the newest turn-based strategy game from the makers of Civilization, and it looks like one of the most interesting games out today. As you level up a squad through the game you have many new features and weapons that become available as your enemies and scenarios become more diverse and difficult. Many gamers out there today don’t necessarily have the patience for a turn-based game anymore, but this one is different in the way that combat goes on when you get in to the fight.

Every time you and your squad explore an area, you don’t just move to a square that is randomly placed on your map, you have to stick to cover with the soldiers you’re using and it’s even a good idea to do that with the vehicles you have. Not only is it different than any other turn-based games in the ways that you move and navigate, but the combat is what really made this game a winner. When you run in to a group of aliens, a wonderful looking cinematic takes place that shows what that specific enemy will be doing for that engagement. Then when you choose to fire, you’re watching a cinematic as they fight, so not only is it an interestingly built strategy game, the combat and cinematics are seriously attractive here.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown looks like a winner but it’s one of those titles that you just have to try to really grasp what it’s about and get an honest opinion about it. The multiplayer side of the game is going to be in development as the game spends time released and the campaign is challenging enough to completely grasp what the RTS style is going to be like even versing other players.
