XCOM Enemy Unknown Demo Rocks the Dashboard
2K has created a wonderful game with XCOM: Enemy Unknown that released on the 9th of October but the demo is still looking the top demo on the Dashboard. The Game Marketplace has not seen a demo of this stature in quite a while. The game is a turn-based game that has plenty of “cut to cinematic” scenes and graphics that are impressive to say the least. The strategy behind the game is brilliant as well and the demo takes interested players through an amazingly fun tutorial that shows the strategic combat and movements of the game.
When the demo really gets in to the details of the game, they do a great job of explaining what to do and it really fits in with the game instead of a tutorial where they just say “do this, do that”. That’s probably what grabbed my attention more than anything else, how the game ties in teaching a complicated play style such as this instead of just throwing all of it at you. On the other hand, the tutorial was nice, but they called it out perfectly as to when the guy helping you should stop talking and let you play the game your way.
Moving in soldiers and positioning the different classes adds a risk/reward system in the game that made the demo want to be replayed over and over again. 2K is really starting to impress the gaming community with the whole NBA 2K13 and now kicking out projects like this and perfecting such a unique game of its kind. The best thing about XCOM: Enemy Unknown is the military feel while putting aliens in to the game so if you have been curious about the game, or just missing that kind of game all around, check out the demo on the dashboard for sure.
