Rumor: Next Skyrim DLC Entitled Dragonborn

Dragonborn

The next Skyrim expansion pack may have you flying on dragons!

A Bethesda forum user Mardoxx has searched through the source code of the recent 1.8 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and is claiming that the next piece of DLC will be titled Dragonborn and will be set on the island of Solstheim, which is to the North East of Skyrim. Bethesda trademarked the name Dragonborn last month so it’s very possible that this claim is true.

Mardoxx claims that the source code also hints at the names of the main locations in the expansion. Places include Raven Rock, Miraak Temple, Castle Karstaag and Telvanni Tower. A new HUD compass markers will show their locations. New armor types, spell casting on mounts and new creatures and dwemer objects are also supposedly to be included in the DLC. However, the most exciting feature that Mardoxx is claiming is the possibility of riding dragons.

Now, normally anyone can claim something on a forum and its easy to pass it off as ramblings but Mardoxx posted his proof in the form of the line of code he’s sourcing from:

  • $Crafting_$DLC2ArmorBonemold BONEMOLD
  • $Crafting_$DLC2ArmorChitin CHITIN
  • $Crafting_$DLC2ArmorNordic NORDIC
  • $Crafting_$DLC2ArmorStalhrim STALHRIM
  • $Dragonborn Quests Completed Dragonborn Quests Completed
  • $DRAGONBORN_ESMName Dragonborn
  • $DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT_PS3 DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT

The source code also seems to have a line teasing the downloadable content coming to the PlayStation 3 but with the numerous difficulties Bethesda has had with bringing the currently available DLC to that console makes it seem more like wishful thinking that confirmation. Furthermore the picture shown above is suppose to be what the new HUD compass markers will look like.

Skyrim continues to get more content intent on keeping the game alive a year after its release. Are you still playing Skyrim? If not, will you starting playing again for this new content? Comment below and let us know!

Hello. I'm Esteban Sky Cuevas aka Colorwind and I'm the managing editor for Gaming Precision. I've been gaming ever since I was six years old when I played Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at someone's house and then begged for a video game console. That console was a NES but I quickly moved on to a SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Atari 2600, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, PS2, Saturn, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and 3DS. I like all genres of video games but I'm partial to Platform titles, Action Adventure games, and fighters. I love old SNK fighters like Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury, and my favorite video game character is Sonic the Hedgehog. My top five consoles are in reverse order the Xbox 360, SNES, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis and Sony PlayStation, although I often talk about how the Sega Saturn deserves more attention than it got. Check out my Twitter and Tumblr if you would like to follow me.
